Week 11 was crazy!!! We had been scheduled for charlies surgery on Wednesday so for 7 days we had to deal with this hernia... hernias are weird.... the doctor basically told us "you can push it back in and it will relieve some of the pressure and pain.... omg!!! well we tried and we did the best we could but by the day before the surgery we were all counting down the hours!! he was in pain.. he couldn't poop... I was slightly freaking out... we needed this surgery done now!!! so the morning of Wednesday august 17th 2016 comes and little baby Charlie and I leave the house at 4:30... poor thing had to be fasting for 8 hours before the surgery ... side note this man has never gone more than 6 hours without eating... this car ride should be fun... Charlie and I said a prayer before we hit the road and yall... God is good... Charlie slept the hour and a half car ride annnnddd 2 hours in the waiting room and preop!!!! I couldn't believe it!! mom (grammy) met us there at 7 am which was sooooo sweet!!! she got to cuddle charle and he loved it!!! we are soooo lucky we have so many loved ones around us... every nurse that came by wanted to touch him and ohh and aww over him... which makes me think they don't see babies this small in the operating room we were at. now about the doctor... I had met her the week before at the doctors apt where she diagnosed it was a hernia duh... so I knew what to expect (she is very dry and HORRIBLE bedside manor) so I warned my mom because I know she would freak!! well the doctor wanders in 10 minutes after surgery should have started... wearing white linen pants with food stains on them, a lime green jacket, reading glasses on the tip of her nose, holding sparkly gold sunglasses and a purse... yall this purse!!! tiny purse about as big as a napkin with a long strap it was brown and about 25 years old.... so she rumbles thru her purse and finds a pen... signs a couple pieces of paper in his file and glares over the glasses... "have any questions"!!!! omg yes I do!!! all I get is 1 word answers... if this woman wasn't the best surgeon in the whole panhandle we would not have gone to her... ok she wonders off and the sweetest OR nurse comes and gets Charlie and he goes back to surgery never cries never freaks out about going 9+ hours with no food... so mom and I go wait in the waiting room... it took about an hour and 15 minutes then the little digital board said our sweet Charlie aka #4083 was in recovery... not long after here comes our doctor wandering out into the waiting room... she's in scrubs now... still with the glasses on the tip of her nose and that damn PURSE!!!! no joke she walks up to us and said.. "surgery is done... any questions?!?!?!?" yes.... yes I have questions... is he alive? did you remove any major organs??? seriously!!!!!! she leaves and mom looks at me and says "can someone get that woman a damn locker for that purse?!?!?! she probably took it into surgery" hahahaha we laughed soooo hard.... we soon got a call that Charlie was ready to go to his recovery room. they put him on the pediatric ICU floor... it freaked me out first... but later the nurse told me it was just because he was so small and it would keep him away from a lot of germs... there were only 3 other kids in the whole icu. we had great nurses... I cant stress enough how great the nurses at our hospital are!!!! they took such great care of us!!! we had to stay over night and the doctor with the purse was supposed to come discharge us the next MORNING.... well loooonngggg story short at 2 pm she finally returned the page and said she had asked another doctor to discharge us and he must have forgot.... I truly know that she was the one that forgot!!!! never again.... if connor gets a hernia he will have to have the 2nd best surgeon !!! the whole time we were in the hospital daddy and connor were at the house (we decided to divide and conquer... it worked) they did really good... jodee came and helped daddy and my sister and neice came and visited us in the hospital. were so glad its over and now were just working on getting Charlie healed!!!!
Connor has had a growth spurt and is now much bigger than Charlie... I think this hernia set him back a bit but that's ok he will catch up!!! connor is eating 4-5 oz every bottle and Charlie is eating 2-3 oz... connor is barely fitting in newborn.... fits great in 0-3 months and Charlie is sitting pretty in newborn size.
we had a dna test done to see if they were identical... we though they were, due to the 1 placenta... but my doctor put some doubt in my head, he said 2 placentas can fuse and look like one... so we paid the $150 and found out that on 15 different dna strands they were all 99.9 percent identical!!!!
we had a good week, so glad the surgery is done now on to great adventures!!!
